Akums collected 503 units of blood in three days camp

Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd., located in SIDCUL Industrial of Haridwar organised a Blood donation camp this year in all of their units. Akums organises this event every year in pursuance of their Corporate Social Responsibility endeavours. The camp was organised from 11 to 14 June in different factory units of Akums, in which 503 units of blood were collected. Employees of Akums took part in this donation drive with great enthusiasm even when this is the time when our society is seriously hit by pandemic. The camp was inaugurated by the Managing Director of Akums Sandeep Jain and his wife Archana Jain by lighting the lamp.
On this occasion Sandeep Jain said that donation of blood is the greatest donation by a human being. It saves lives. At a certain point of time there is always need of the human blood to save lives. Every person must donate blood as the same cannot be manufactured by any other process, he said. Sandeep Jain added, “The blood donation camp we have organised following all the rules and guidelines by Central and state Government and district administration. During the camp all norms of mouth mask, continuous sanitization of hands, social distancing were followed.”
Teams from different blood bank agencies like HMC – Haridwar, Civil Hospital – Roorkee, Himalayan Hospital – Jolly Grant, Doon Hospital – Dehradun, Bhumanand Hospital, Haridwar took part in the camp and collected blood. Akums has been conducting this camp every year and in the year 2019 record 1165 units of blood was collected in the camp. This year the low collection count was due to COVID and different diseases which deprived many aspirants from donating blood.
On this occasion K.D. Sharma, Deepak Haldankar, Mr. J.B. Kandpal, Dr. Rajumar Singh, Niranjan Mohan, Basant Kumar Singh Rathore, Awanish Singh, C. B. Thakur, Nitin Gupta, V.P.S. Rawat, S.P. Ojha, Kuldeep Tyagi were present.
